The Kånken Art limited edition 2020
A new Kånken Art collaboration with Swedish artist, Moa Hoff, brings the iconic backpack even closer to nature. In 2017, Kånken was designated as craft art by Svensk Form (The Swedish Society of Crafts and Design) and in 2018 we wanted to celebrate this by handing over the reigns to two Swedish artists. Their assignment was to express their relationship to nature with Kånken as their canvas. It was such an inspiring process and excellent result, that we are doing it again now. For this season Fjällräven has teamed up with Moa Hoff, a Swedish artist that has taken a handmade, illustrative and imaginative artistic approach. Moa finds her inspiration in many places, but mainly in nature. This made her the perfect latest collaborator for the Kånken Art series. We spoke with Moa to ask her where she found her inspiration for her Kånken Art design.

Kånken Family
That’s all it takes to recognise a Kånken backpack passing you by on someone’s back. So easy to spot – there is only one Kånken after all, even if it comes in different shapes and sizes. Throughout the years, different versions of this iconic product have been developed, the number of colours it comes in has increased and it’s seen the addition of new materials – but every single Kånken backpack has the same simple, timeless design that has been loved by all since the very first one saw the light of day in 1978.

Kånken Rainbow
Nature doesn’t judge – and with the rainbow being a symbol for diversity, openness and equal rights, we think it perfectly captures the spirit of outdoor life. Kånken Rainbow celebrates every individual’s freedom to express herself, and for each backpack sold 1% of proceeds is donated to projects within our Arctic Fox Initiative. A special edition pack with all that great Kånken love, and a bit more.

The Arctic Fox Initiative
The arctic fox, the namesake of the company, has a special place in Fjällräven’s heart. This shy, yet playful creature is sadly endangered in Scandinavia partly due to the effects of climate change.
